UTB, UCC Forge Partnership to Enhance Tourism Through Digital Connectivity
The Uganda Tourism Board (UTB) has engaged the Uganda Communications Commission (UCC) to strengthen collaboration aimed at improving visitor experiences and boosting Uganda’s competitiveness as a top tourism destination.

During the meeting held yesterday, UCC’s Executive Director reaffirmed the regulator’s commitment to expanding network coverage and reach, particularly in remote areas where most of Uganda’s tourism attractions are located. He emphasized that connectivity is a critical enabler of service delivery and overall competitiveness in the tourism sector.

UTB Chairperson Pearl Kakooza highlighted the importance of strong digital foundations in positioning Uganda as “The Pearl of Africa”. She noted that enhanced connectivity will not only improve visitor experiences but also ensure that local communities directly benefit from the tourism value chain.

UTB Chief Executive Officer Juliana Kagwa outlined the strategic pillars for synergy between UTB and UCC, including:

Strengthening collaboration between government, telecom operators, and tourism stakeholders.

Leveraging digital tools to package and market Uganda’s diverse tourism products.

Enhancing online visibility, seamless travel, and the development of tourism-focused apps and platforms.

Both agencies agreed that technology and connectivity are key drivers in transforming Uganda’s tourism sector, with a focus on efficiency in communication, service delivery, and global visibility.
